Offering one-on-one support for puppies and dogs struggling with grooming and handling challenges.

Is your dog no longer welcome at the groomers?

Does your puppy transform into a little gremlin when the brush comes out?

Do you dread the ordeal of bathing your dog or trimming their nails?

Has your dog lost confidence and visits to the salon become a negative experience for all?

These situations can be incredibly stressful, but they don’t have to be. There’s a better way…

With canine behaviour qualifications in science-based methods (distinctions), qualified to the highest possible level in grooming and over 28 years of professional experience, I can help.

My approach focuses on using positive techniques and thinking creatively to find solutions tailored to your dog’s needs. By giving them choices and breaking the process into manageable steps, we can work toward a stress-free grooming experience.

Force-free, compassionate training isn’t a quick fix or about using gadgets or excessive restraints—it’s about building a positive relationship that helps your dog in the long term.

Every training plan is customized for your dog, and I’ll guide you through every step of the journey.

Here’s what happens next:..

  • Your consultation will take a closer look at your dog’s challenges, gathering information about your dog and your situation.

  • Working with this information, a ‘next steps’ plan will be developed, outlining suggested sessions, catch up appointments, and tasks for you to work on at home with clear step-by-step guidance.

  • Based on your dog’s needs, 1:1 online or in-person sessions might be suggested for your dog. Dogs can utilise the professional salon environment I can provide, which can be especially useful if these behaviours have previously been shown at a groomers.

  • Finally, a follow-up session will assess the progress made during your sessions and address any questions about moving forward. If more support is needed, additional sessions can be arranged on a ‘pay as you go’ basis.

“I am the owner of a West Highland White Terrier who was the only surviving puppy in his litter, he is very intelligent, stubborn beyond belief, very loving (on his terms), he knows his own mind and definitely doesn’t like being treated/administered to in any way (a vet/groomers nightmare). My dog is 14 years 5 months old and has been groomed by Lorna since he was a puppy. Lorna and Mac have the most amazing understanding of each other and Mac allows Lorna to do most things with him which I can honestly say has enhanced his quality of life. I have no hesitation in recommending Lorna Humphreys is simply the best.”

Mac’s owner, Hazel

Meet Mac!

Mac is a West Highland White Terrier who has been coming to me for grooming sessions since he was a pup. His owner, Hazel, works so hard with him, he isn’t the easiest dog to deal with at times, particularly if he is uncomfortable with the some clinical issues he has had. Together we have worked with Mac, through his behavioural challenges at his pace and with respect - and he has come such a long way!
